The Eye of the Beholder

ART Without Borders presents "The Eye of the Beholder," an exhibition of photographs from Afghanistan by Eve Chayes Lyman documenting a country at the crossroads of democracy and Taliban rule. The opening reception will be held on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2006 from 5-7pm, followed by the music of Melissa Kassel (vocal), Phil Grenadier (trumpet), Bruno Räberg (bass), from 7-9pm. Runs from Nov. 10, 2006 through Jan. 12, 2007 at Democracy Center, 45 Mount Auburn St., Cambridge. Gallery hours will be Monday – Sunday, 12-5pm or by appointment. The exhibition is free to the public, and donations are appreciated. ART Without Borders is committed to preserving and promoting artists’ rights in the world. Art Without Borders' members believe that artists are often the first victims of human rights violations or abuse, forcing them to leave everything behind and to become refugees due to their faith, political stance, ethnicity or artistic activity. Art Without Borders wants to participate in the building of a better world, offering to artist refugees and individuals advocating for artists’ rights the support of an exchange network and the sponsorship of events.
